POPPY Records can offer a range of professional transcription services to archives, museums and historic collections. Playback and Archive copies are produced simultaneously in a range of digital formats and can be supplied on CD or hard drive.

Transcription from discs of all kinds

Wax cylinder playback
Up to 300 rpm Up to 3" diameter Up to 6" length Any tpi Standard Edison taper mandrel Special mandrels to order Wow reduction of warped cylinders The cylinder playback machine may be hired, with or without an engineer, for transcribing fragile artefacts on the customer's premises. Wire recording playback
Boosey & Hawkes Webster Armour Minifon Protona All played on original equipment, carefully reconstructed to give the correct transfer characteristics. Variable-speed playback to correct for non-standard recording speeds. (more about playing wire recordings)

Recordgraph playback
The oringinal Recordgraph machines used sprocket drive and a fixed magazine geometry, which has the potential to damage the acetate film loops when they become shrunken and brittle. The Poppy Records playback machine is of completley new design and construction, with rubber drive rollers and a variable geometry magazine so as to handle old and deteriorating film loops as gently as possible. Grundig Stenorette playback
